Can you repair your credit without paying?
The short answer is, yes you can. 1. One of the biggest problems with credit is that it’s not a simple thing to fix. It’s a big, complex system with a lot of moving parts. As long as you’re aware of what it takes to fix your credit, you have a much better chance of getting it done right. You don’t need to be a computer whiz or spend a fortune to repair your credit. You just need to be willing to make some changes and get a little help along the way. In this post, we’ll go over some of the best free things you can do to fix your credit score. The first step to fixing your credit is to know where you stand today. That’s why I recommend starting with the Credit Karma score report. It will give you a good idea of your current credit standing and help you understand what you need to do to improve your score. After that, we’ll look at some free things you can do to get your score up. 2. Look for Errors The first thing you want to do if you want to repair your credit is to find any errors on your report. There are three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. They all have their own systems for reporting credit card information and other important information about your credit report. For example, Experian has a system called Experian IdentityWorks. If an error pops up on your report, you’ll want to contact the company that reported the error. Each company will have its own customer service phone number. If you call the wrong one, they’ll just tell you to call another one. To find out the number for your company, just go to their website and look for the “Contact Us” link in the upper right hand corner. That’s how you can find the number for the company that reported the error. 3. Correct Errors Once you get the error corrected, it’s time to make sure you’re fully reporting all of your debt. You don’t want any old debts showing up on your report. Most of the errors on your credit report will be easy to fix. For example, if there’s an unpaid bill showing on your report, you’ll want to make sure that bill is paid in full. If there’s an account that’s been closed, you’ll want to make sure it’s closed. If there’s a new account showing up, you’ll want to make sure it’s actually a new account and not just a re-reporting of an old one. If there’s a mistake in the information about your current credit, you’ll want to contact the company that provided the information and make sure they’re correct 4. Clean Up Your Credit Report Even though most errors on your report can be fixed, there are still some things that are harder to fix. These are the little errors that can have a big impact on your score. The best way to fix these errors is to get them removed from your credit report. That means contacting the company that reported the information and asking them to remove it. You’ll have to send them a letter with a copy of your credit report showing the error. After that, you’ll want to follow up and make sure they’ve actually taken care of the problem. If they don’t, it’s time to start reporting the problem to the other three major credit bureaus.
